VeganCheckr for iPhone and iPad
You do not need to create a VeganCheckr account. That does not mean no information is processed. Saved product history and app preferences use device storage, while product lookups and purchase/paywall services can involve network requests and third-party processing.
Barcode and product searches query Open Food Facts. The requested barcode or search term and technical network information, including an IP address, can reach the service. Its privacy terms apply. Camera access supports barcode and printed-label recognition; avoid including personal information in photos or support messages.
The current iOS source configures RevenueCat for purchase and entitlement management and Superwall for paywalls. These services can process anonymous app-user identifiers, purchase and subscription information, app/device attributes and interaction events for functionality and analytics. Apple processes App Store billing; not receiving payment-card details does not mean the app has no other data processing. See RevenueCat's privacy policy and Superwall's privacy policy.
Optional nearby-place features may use location permission. Check the permission prompt and your device settings. Refusing optional permissions can limit the related feature.
Disclosure review: this website previously repeated a “Data Not Collected” store label as a blanket privacy promise. That wording has been removed because it does not explain the SDK and network processing above. The exact distributed build, SDK settings and App Store privacy answers must be reconciled; a source review alone is not a network audit of the installed app.
For access, correction, deletion or privacy questions, use the operator contact below. Local history can be removed on the device; purchase-service records may be retained for restoration, accounting or other applicable obligations. Deleting app data does not cancel an App Store subscription.
VeganCheckr for Android
The Android app is available through the linked Google Play listing. For privacy questions or deletion requests, use the operator contact below and identify your platform.
Information on your device
You do not need to create a VeganCheckr account. Saved products, scan results, ingredient avoidance preferences and app settings are stored on your device. You can remove saved history in the app or clear the app's storage through Android settings. Android may include app data in device backups and device transfers according to your system settings.
Camera permission is used for barcode and ingredient-label recognition. You can also select a photo with Android's photo picker. Recognition uses Google ML Kit on your device. VeganCheckr does not upload the photos or camera frames to its developer or to the product database. Recognized text may be stored locally with a result you save.
Product searches and images
Barcode lookups and product-name searches are sent to Open Food Facts over HTTPS to retrieve product records. Product images are downloaded from their hosting services. These services receive the requested barcode, search term or image address, together with technical network information such as your IP address. Recognition diagnostics
Google ML Kit processes technical information such as app and SDK versions, device model and operating-system information, per-installation identifiers, recognition event types, timing, image format and resolution, and error codes for diagnostics and usage analytics. Recognition input images are processed on the device. Google documents these practices at https://developers.google.com/ml-kit/android-data-disclosure.
Premium purchases and paywalls
Google Play processes Android purchases and manages subscription billing. VeganCheckr does not receive your payment-card details. RevenueCat processes an anonymous app-user identifier, purchase history and purchase tokens, product information and entitlement status to validate purchases, restore access and provide purchase analytics. Superwall delivers the Premium paywall and processes anonymous identifiers, app and device attributes, subscription status, and paywall and purchase-interaction events to present the paywall and measure its performance. Superwall also derives approximate location, such as country, region or city, from the IP address for analytics. This is distinct from GPS location: the Android app does not request precise-location permission. SDK identifiers and technical analytics are collected automatically; the app does not provide an opt-out control for that collection. See https://superwall.com/legal/privacy-policy.
The app does not display third-party advertisements and does not request the Android advertising ID. The developer does not sell your personal data.
External actions and support
Sharing a product opens Android's share interface. You choose the destination and whether to send the information. Submitting a product report sends the product name and barcode (when available), your selected issue and expected status, the current result, your note, app version and RevenueCat app-user identifier to the developer through Cloudflare and a private Telegram bot. The identifier helps investigate the report; it is not your payment information. Reports are sent only when you press Submit. Report text is not stored in the report service database; a request identifier, payload hash, delivery status and timestamp are retained for seven days to prevent duplicate submissions. Report messages remain in the developer’s Telegram inbox for review; contact the support address to request deletion. Opening nearby vegan places launches your maps app, whose permissions and privacy policy govern any location processing. VeganCheckr does not request location permission itself.
Report bug and Give feedback open an editable draft in your email app, addressed to the support contact below with the subject “Vegancheckr Android”. The draft contains the report type, RevenueCat app-user ID, phone manufacturer and model, app version and build, and Android version. You can edit the draft and decide whether to send it. If you send it, the developer receives your email address, message and included technical details to investigate and answer your request.
Retention and deletion
Local history remains until you remove it or clear the app's storage. Cloud purchase and paywall records may persist after uninstalling because they support restoration and subscription management. Contact the support address to request access, correction or deletion of records associated with your use. The developer may need purchase details or an app-user identifier to locate the relevant record. Do not send payment-card information. Records needed for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention or outstanding transaction purposes may need to be retained.
Deleting app data or requesting data deletion does not cancel an active Google Play subscription. Manage or cancel subscriptions in Google Play.
Security and changes
The app's network requests use HTTPS. No system can guarantee absolute security. This policy will be updated when the app's data practices change, with the effective date shown on the published page.
This website and optional app-store click counts
vegancheckr.com uses no advertising or third-party analytics scripts. Our own optional click counter is off by default. You can choose it using the “Help us measure app-store clicks” checkbox in the website footer. Leaving it off does not change access to the site, app links or app features.
What opting in sends and stores
After you opt in, following one of our App Store or Google Play links sends a small first-party request to this website. The request contains an affirmative consent flag, the public page path without its query string or fragment, and the destination store (iPhone or Android). The server adds the UTC calendar day and increases a daily total in a private Cloudflare D1 database. It does not store individual event records, visitor or device identifiers, IP addresses, user-agent strings, referrers or query strings in that database. There are no analytics cookies or third-party tracking scripts.
These totals measure consenting visitors' store-link clicks, not unique people, confirmed store visits, app installs or purchases. Repeat clicks can be counted, and blocked or failed requests may not be counted. No profile or cross-site history is created by this counter.
Your choice and privacy signals
Only when you change the checkbox, your browser's local storage is used to save a yes/no preference under vegancheckr.store-click-consent.v1. This preference contains no identifier. You can withdraw consent at any time by unchecking the same box; future click counting stops. Clearing site storage resets the choice to off. If storage is unavailable, a choice applies only to the current page.
Global Privacy Control (GPC) and Do Not Track (DNT) signals override an opt-in and keep counting off. Without JavaScript, no click counter runs. Store links still work if you decline, withdraw consent or a measurement request fails. Following a store link takes you to Apple or Google, whose privacy policies govern their services.
Retention and hosting
We use a rolling 90-day window for these daily aggregates. Rows outside that window are deleted when the next accepted click is processed or when the operator runs maintenance; without further activity, removal may occur later. Cloudflare's database recovery copies can have a separate provider-controlled retention period. We cannot isolate or remove one person's past clicks from combined totals because no visitor identifier is stored.
Cloudflare delivers and secures this website and the optional measurement request. Like any network request, delivery exposes technical information such as an IP address to the hosting provider; Cloudflare may process its own technical or security logs separately from our aggregate table.
